Walking Safaris

Adding a walking safari to your experience at Mohlabetsi, is the perfect way to take in the finer details of the African Bush and enjoy a whole other aspect of wildlife. From animal tracks and signs, to botany, insects and birds, our walking safaris focus on the smaller things often forgotten or overlooked.

While on a 3-hour walk, you will get to connect with nature, listen to the sounds of the bush and learn more about the animals and their environment. You might even encounter such animals and observe them from a distance; unaware of your presence, you will get to witness their most natural behavior.

The walks are led by fully qualified and experienced trails guides who will ensure a safe and educational experience that you will never forget!

What do I need to know:
- Minimum age: 14 years old
- Maximum age: no set limit provided you are healthy and in good physical condition
- Fitness level required: the walk duration of 3 hours and the potential uneven terrains require the participants to have good mobility and general physical condition
- Minimum number of participants: 2
- Maximum number of participants: 4 with 1 guide, 8 with 2 guides

What do I need to pack for a walk:
- Light, neutral colored clothing
- Closed shoes
- Hat / sunglasses
- Sunscreen
- Binoculars

How can I book a walk and how does it work:
The walks are weather and availability dependent, hence can be booked at the lodge directly for R500 per person (R550 in 2026). The 3-hour walk will replace one of your morning game drives to avoid walking in the heat of the day.
